Sunol Water Temple
The Sunol Water Temple was built in 1910 and designed by Willis Polk, modeled after the the ancient temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy. Polk, a relativie of the U.S. Presdent of the same surname, also designed The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco; but considered the Water Temple his finest work. The Temple was the source of 60% of San Francisco water supply until the Hetch Hetchy aquduct was built.
